1. What primary reason motivated you to start and finish the Challenge?

A short and simple answer is... my sister did it so I can do it! More specifically, I saw her restored personhood. A new life! I wanted that for myself and I knew with her example and cheering that I had an ally in this war. Getting to know the other great folks at Slim Body Coach helped see me through as well. Another key motivator for me was the "100 pound photo." When I had to buy size 56 pants last year, and the belt to go with them, I was really depressed. I just made a mental picture in my mind that I was going to be in one of those photos where I put on the "fat pants" and show the progress! I kept those old pants on the top shelf in the closet and saw them often... I knew I would defeat them! I had a great pleasure drilling holes in the old belt!

2. What were your results - how many inches, pounds, dress sizes, or pant sizes did you lose? Moreover, did you have any changes in health indicators, such as cholesterol levels or blood pressure? Did your energy levels change?

First of all, I lost over 100 pounds! My pants went from a 56 down to a 42. That is over a foot! As for health, no more gout, no more heartburn pills, no drugs period. I have the energy to jam with other musicians again! The biggest key result is my outlook on life. I feel like I have a future again. I can plan to do things again instead of packing away pitiful amounts of fat and grease which segues into #3.

3. How has your mental outlook changed - do you have more confidence?

It is absolutely different. When I was dying of fat, I really felt like if I did not change, I would be dead very soon. I would wait until dark to take out the garbage because I hated to be seen. Now being home is boring. I rode 7000 miles on my Harley this year! I have the confidence and self esteem to handle the challenge of a new daily talk show. Talk radio is not easy... many try but few succeed. True with anything in life. As a recovered food addict, my passion for what I call "sustainable health" has replaced the food network gluttony. I am not a gymnast or an athlete. I am me. And I am getting better everyday. This is not a race; it is a way of life.

4. How do you truly feel, right now, about your body after your transformation?

To be brutally honest, I never really focused on "liking" my body, especially looking at it. Doing those awful photos was one of the worst things I could possibly imagine. That is why I looked forward to that 100 pound photo with the pants; kind of a revenge of the camera. Now I see my body differently. I see potential for much greater things. I feel like shopping for sharp clothes again. No more Big and Tall shops. I can now start to see the muscles I used to have. I used to be so fat that I could not pick myself up off of the floor. Now I can do 25 push ups. The victory is won! I will sustain this life and keep on burnin!

5. How do you truly feel, right now, about your life - how has it improved?

Since I do not pass out after lunch anymore, I have noticed how fascinating people can be. I used to avoid social interaction. I hated me; now I really don't worry about me anymore. I focus on others and try to learn and make up for all that fat wasted time. The best way I can describe how I truly feel... is like an ex-con. I feel like I was in a prison of my own making. For nearly 20 years, I was an isolated fat man. I did what most fat people do... nothing. I became a great cook so all social events revolved around some fantastic dish. But that was about it. I still love to cook but I enjoy the challenge of making healthier meals that I still have on the "wow" factor. I quit playing in the band (too fat to stand on stage). I almost never went outside... I was in prison. Now I am out! Sometimes I think of so many things to do that I run out of time (that is why I am writing this at 4 in the morning). But it is weird... I still need to work on being free. I am not used to having all this energy. But it is a fantastic problem to have!

6. What kept you motivated and allowed you to finish this contest?

I knew that succeeding meant a permanent change, not just a temporary change. I had done a terrible thing to myself. The mountain was huge. I kept a fat picture of me on the refrigerator. I logged on the Slim Body Coach and kept up on my journal.

7. What were some of your keys to success in losing weight?

First of all, belief! I had to start there. The autoship program that my GNS supplements were on helped me not wimp out. The big key was I had to focus on lifestyle change that was sustainable. I was as I am now; convinced I can do this for life! I will keep on burnin!

8. What challenges did you have to overcome while participating in this contest?

At first, portion control, so I bought a food scale. Then I bought a smaller saute pan. What I had not planned on were the health challenges. In June, the doctors were talking about another hip replacement. In July, I had severe cellulitis that had me in the hospital for six days.

9. Why should you be chosen as a winner in this contest?

I should be chosen as a winner because I know how to succeed at this lifestyle. I know I can help others achieve their goals. My victory has already been won!

10. What weight loss support tools did you find to be the most helpful at SlimBodyCoach and why?

I really liked the journal. I work a lot so I do not have a lot of time. The journal was very encouraging. I have so many new friends through Slim Body Coach. I also liked the ability to post my weight and the weight loss tracker. But to me, the biggest kick was being able to post photos.

11. What specific GNS Weight Loss Product did you use, how did you use them, and how did they help you in achieving your results?

First, the Lifetime Joint Support was a must have for me and bad hips. Second, the Lipo Matrix and the CLA really helped get the weight off!

Mark says CLA was an important part of his success. In honor of his success, I'm going to let you try CLA Matrix for 30 days—and you just pay for shipping upfront.
